I contemplate a plant.
They’re so cool.
Hundreds of thousands of individual cells working within an unconscious being.
I contemplate the plant.
So amazing they are,
Creating microecosystems,
Sending signals to each other,
Able to recognize related and unrelated species.
I contemplate people,
Similar to plants,
But alien to their ways.
I contemplate a plant,
Hundred of thousands of cells working together.
The harmony of life in an unconscious being.
What can’t humans be like that?
Millions of billions of beings
Could work in harmony.
I contemplate the plant as I
Wonder why humans can’t be more like them.
Why can’t humans be more like them?
Why can’t we be more peaceful like plants?
I contemplate humanity with disdain.
Why can’t we be more like them?
I mean,
These unconscious beings from the lowly algae to a giant Redwood,
Thousands of millions of billions of cells
Working in unison.
Why can’t we be like that?
I contemplate humanity with revulsion,
Why can’t humans work in unison
To create a better future for ourselves and our children?
To heal the harm we’ve done to the Earth.
To take care of ourselves and each other.
To live in harmony.
I contemplate humanity with loathing,
Why can’t we be plants?
